In the air-conditioned comfort of the office, we always missed the practical occupations and the feeling of finality of the effort made. Thus, in our free time, we often found ourselves contemplating handicrafts, from embroidery or fabrics, to wrought iron lamps or candlesticks.

We admire the traces of the effort made by the craftsman, the stitches or the traces of hammer blows – in contrast to the standardized and impersonal objects, industrially produced, which surround us today everywhere.

For the decorations of Hanul Vatra, we had the great chance to find skilled craftsmen in the village: carpenters, blacksmiths, weavers. Thus, our choice was very easy: we combined the authentic furniture, made of solid oak wood with hinges, lamps and cornices made of hand wrought iron. We covered the beds with handcrafted fabrics with local motifs, in geometric shapes, in natural colors.

Last but not least, appreciating the mastery of the potters in Horezu, we revised their way of displaying the plates on the walls – did you discover them?
